Growing up in the family business Jennie began dancing at the age of 5 and began assisting classes at the age of 13. After high school, she continued her studies in dance with an emphasis on Ballet and Modern Dance at Montclair State University where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002. After graduation, Jennie became the Director of Cindy Smith Dance studio and held that title for 10 years before taking over the family business. Jennie has won numerous awards for her outstanding choreography and Best technique throughout her career and has led National award winning competition teams. She continues to enrich her love of dance to children of all ages and nurture their love for the art of dance.
Jackie began her dance training at age three with Stagelite Centre of Performing Arts in Pequannock, New Jersey. There she studied ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, and contemporary and started competing at the regional and national levels by age six. Jackie went on to study at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She graduated in 2012 with honors, receiving a B.A. in Dance and Theatre. While at Muhlenberg, Jackie had the opportunity to study under Karen Dearborn, Charles O. Anderson, and Corrie Franz-Cowart, while performing in many faculty and student concerts. She also had the pleasure of choreographing several modern and ballet pieces of her own for the student concerts and was a member of the Copasetic Rhythm tap group. In the summer of 2011 Jackie worked as an intern at Dance Place in Washington, D.C. with Carla Perlo and Deborah Riley. She continues her education and performance in New York City, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. Jackie has been a teacher at Cindy Smith Dance Studio for five years during which she has been awarded for her choreography and instruction. She wants to continue to share her passion for dance and the arts with all of her students.
Janine was exposed to dance when she was only three years old. As she grew older and truly began to identify her love for the art at the age of twelve she auditioned for a small elite dance company where she trained, performed and competed under the direction of Ashle Dawson from Fox's hit show "So You Think You Can Dance". Through this outlet, she advanced her training in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical and was introduced to latin cultural dancing. At the age of sixteen Janine was chosen to assist Nick Gonzalez owner of "NRG Dance Convention" in Tap and Hip Hop. After graduating high school Janine continued to audition and perform; performances include: "Showtime at The Apollo", "Americas Next Best Dance Crew","Americas Got Talent","NYC International Salsa Congress", six consecutive seasons of "Dead Mans Party" at Six Flags Great Adventure and was chosen to be apart of the Olympic Team in Hip Hop to compete in Germany. She is currently pursuing a comprehensive background in traditional and Latin Ballroom technique. Janine is hoping to inspire her students to not be afraid to push the boundaries of dance and to always pursue their dreams.
Devin began dancing at Cindy Smith Dance Studio when she was just two years old. Over the 15 years Devin spent at CSDS as a student, she trained in various techniques and represented the studio as a competition team member. In addition to training at CSDS, Devin studied dance at the Academy for Performing Arts (APA) in Scotch Plains, NJ, where she earned her high school diploma. At APA, Devin concentrated on Ballet and Modern Dance techniques and was an active member of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. She was also awarded with the Principal’s Award, Leadership Award, Outstanding Performer in Dance Award, and a PTSO Dance Scholarship. Devin continued her dance training at a pre-professional level as a Junior Company member of both The Well Performance Project and New Jersey Ballet Company. She also has had the opportunities to study at the Joffrey Ballet School, Broadway Dance Center, and with the Rockettes. Currently, Devin is working towards her BFA in Dance Performance at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance. Devin is excited to share all she has learned over the years with the shining students of CSDS.
Mark was born in raised in New Jersey. He was exposed to dance at a young age from line dancing at Filipino parties to seeing artists dance in music videos. His first opportunity to perform came as a freshman in high school when his older brother asked him to perform at his high school's Asian club talent show. Hesitant at first, dance quickly grew from a hobby into a passion throughout his high school tenure. He went on to train hip-hop at Center Stage for two years under Eric Samson. Upon entering Rutgers, he decided to try out for RAPS Dance Troupe and danced/choreographed with the team for 3 years. Mark went on to dance with FR3SH Dance Company, getting the opportunity to perform at competitions and showcases all around New Jersey, New York, and Boston as well as teach workshops in the tri-state area. Mark continues to hone his craft by training with his current team, The Society, as well as taking hip-hop classes in NJ and NY.
